product Care
To keep your CLC products looking beautiful and for the best burn, your candles and melts will need a little TLC.
Whether you’re already enjoying one of our candles or wax melts, or just checking things out, this guide will show you how to get the best from our products.

Container Candles
- First time? Let the candle burn for a minimum of 2 hours or until the wax melts across the surface of the jar to ensure an even burn.
- Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
- Trim your wick before each burn to approximately 5mm to achieve the best and safest burn.
- Stop burning your candle once the wax has reached approximately 10mm from the bottom.
- Store your candle in a cool, dry place to keep it looking its best.
- When your candle is finished, remove the residue wax by placing the vessel in hot water. This will soften and lift the remaining wax for you to then scoop it out. Your vessel is now ready to be recycled or re-purposed.
Did you know? Repurposing your candle jars is easy! Use them as planters, pen holders, or even to store small items like jewellery.

Sculptural and pillar Candles
- Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to 5mm.
- Place your candle on a heat-resistant tray or plate to collect dripping wax.
- Light your candle in a well-ventilated space, away from draughts and flammable materials.
- Burn for at least 1 hour to create a melt pool but for no longer than 3 hours at a time. Different sized pillars and sculptural candles will have different burn times. Keep an eye on the size of your melt pool and extinguish when it is nearing the outer rim but before it has overflowed and melted down the side. This will create a memory ring which will keep your future melt pools inside of the memory ring. If your wax does overflow, embrace the beauty of “wabi sabi – finding beauty in imperfection”.
- If burning multiple candles, place them at least 10cm apart.
- Before relighting your candle, trim your wick to 5mm and remove any wick debris, including any dust build up.
- When the wax is 1cm from the base, stop burning and discard your candle.
Fun fact! Did you know that “wabi-sabi” is a Japanese concept of finding beauty in imperfection? The way the wax overflows can be a work of art in itself!

wax melts
- Never leave a wax warmer/tea lights unattended while in use. Always extinguish the warmer or turn it off before leaving the room.
- Keep wax melts and wax warmers out of reach of children and pets.
- Place the wax warmer on a stable and heat-resistant surface before turning it on. Keep it away from flammable objects to prevent accidents.
- Do not eat wax melts.
- Store your wax melts in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This will preserve their quality, colour and scent.
- Use a candle snuffer or turn off the wax warmer instead of blowing out the flame, as blowing may cause hot wax to splatter.
- Keep the wax warmer away from hanging edges and avoid placing it near water sources.
Did you know? You can mix different wax melt scents to create your own unique fragrance! Try combining two of your favourites for something new.
Safety

candle safety
- Place your candle on a stable heat-resistant surface before burning.
- Never burn your candle on or near anything that could catch fire. Keep away from draughts, curtains, water & moisture.
- Always ensure wicks are upright and in the middle of the candle. Do not allow the wicks to float to the side as this could lead to the vessels overheating.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Ensure candle is completely extinguished before leaving the room.
- Keep your candle out of reach of children and pets.
- Do not burn your candle for longer than the recommended time frames.
- Do not allow your candle to burn to the very base of the vessel. Cease burning when there is 10mm of solid wax left at the base of the candle.
- Do not touch your burning candle or move it when the wax is liquid.
wax melt safety
- Place your wax melts in a wax warmer or burner specifically designed for melting wax. Do not add water to the wax.
- Place your wax melt into the wax warmer's dish or tray, ensuring it doesn't overflow.
- Avoid leaving the wax warmer on for extended periods. It is recommended to use it for a maximum of 3-4 hours at a time.
- You can reuse your wax melt until the scent has faded. Once the scent has dissipated, remove the wax residue and replace it with a new wax melt.
- To remove solidified wax from the warmer, briefly turn on the warmer for less than a minute until the bottom surface of the wax softens. This will make it easier to pull out the wax.
- Allow the wax warmer to cool down before handling or adding more wax melts.
